Job Fair Coming to Katy

Epiphany Church at 1530 Norwalk Drive in Katy is hosting a Job Fair on Thursday, July 22 from 9:00am to 2:00pm.

The event is free and there will be 50 companies represented for jobs from Receptionist to Vice President in the areas of finance, healthcare, IT, engineering and more.

A list of the companies that are participating, and the openings they have will be given to job candidates on the morning of the fair. This event is geared toward degreed, career-minded, professional job candidates. Candidates with no/some college but substantial related work experience would also be well suited for this event.

The new website has a lot of preparedness information and an emergency notification system called “FBC Alert.”

Registration is limited, so don’t wait. Register your children prior to August 1st, 2010 and pay last years’ tuition rates.

Vickie Courtney, VLPOA director said that cancelling was their only option since the forecast called for a 70% chance of rain on Saturday.  The VLPOA board is considering re-scheduling the event for Labor Day.

All is not lost though.  The City of Fulshear has moved their Event to Sunday, July 4th at 6:00 PM.  Fireworks start at 9:45.

The Fort Bend County Express has strategically located Park and Ride centers in Sugar Land and Rosenberg with destinations to the Texas Medical Center. Passengers can access the service at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds in Rosenberg, the University of Houston Sugar Land Campus, and at the First Colony Mall AMC Theatre parking lot. Schedules are available on the Fort Bend County website (www.co.fort-bend.tx.us).

County Judge Bob Hebert stated, “This convenient Park and Ride service will undoubtedly benefit employees of the Medical Center, Veterans and others seeking medical treatment by allowing them to park their cars in a location close to their home, and then transporting them to a drop off point convenient to the entrance.  This is the perfect way to avoid the hassles of parking and congestion.”
