Photos | The 11th Annual Valley Lodge Christmas Caroling!

The horseback riders (and (non-riders) of Valley Lodge in Simonton gathered on Saturday, December 19th, 2009 for their annual Christmas ride through Valley Lodge subdivision.  The ride gives horseback riders an opportunity to get together with each other and share their Christmas cheer with the Community.

This year’s ride featured about 17 horses and riders along with several carriages – all decked out for Christmas.  The riders were joined by a tractor-drawn hay ride and several ’riders who chose  Golf Carts instead of horses.

The riders made several stops along the way to sing Christmas carols and wish their neighbors a Merry Christmas.  They enjoyed sodas, cookies and each other as they made their way around the community.

We are pleased to put these photos online for your enjoyment.

Local Composer, Vickie Courtney, Featured in The Fort Bend Herald

The following excerpt is from the Fort Bend Herald article titled “Composer Courtney returns to her calling”.  We hope you’ll visit their web site to read the entire article.

Nine years go Vicki Tucker Courtney realized what was missing from her life: music.

There’s a place where Courtney is in her element, focused, devoted, and at times obsessed with her creativity. It’s a place where her fingers feel at home on the smooth black and white keys of a piano and the only thing running through her mind is the melody she’s sewing together.

“I am a composer,” Courtney said smiling warmly. “I write music.”

Writing choral music for entities that range from churches to schools, Courtney is proving to herself and everyone else, that playing and writing music is what she’s born to do.

Well done Vickie!
